In an effort to reconnect Madden with NFL fans, Grow and Google’s Art, Copy & Code collaborated with EA Sports to create the Madden Giferator, a dynamic GIF engine that created real-time ads from live game footage. The Giferator also let users make their own GIFs to taunt rivals and friends. The internet took over and it went viral, making it one of Tumblr’s top reblogged memes of 2014.
Grow came to me to tell the story of the Giferator, highlighting the innovation behind its dynamic, real-time engine, and celebrating the viral explosion that followed when the internet joined in.
My goal was to take an incredible project and tell its story in a way that would rock advertising award season. The video paved the way for the Giferator to take home some of the most respected awards in advertising.
